A British polling group has announced that over one million Iraqi civilians have died since the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. Using figures based on the country’s last census and interviews with a sampling of 2,414 Iraqis, the agency found that nearly 20% of households had at least one death occur that was directly related to the conflict. A single death, be it civilian or soldier, friend or foe, should be enough to constitute the senselessness of the war. Tragically, the astronomical figure of one million innocent deaths still won’t be enough to tip the opinion or policy on this gross misappropriation of national defense and foreign policy.
