THE TEASE

Fall Jay

Today is July 29 but the weather here in Manitoba is teasing of fall. It’s the middle of summer but the brisk air is whispering the crunching of leaves. Being a Manitoban I should appreciate the warm weather as the alternative is winter but my desires are for autumn. I think it’s rooted in the amount of change we all experienced going back to school. While some people look at spring as a source of rebirth, I think for many students the fall accomplishes this on a more prolific level. I always had a different perspective on life coming back into school in September. I’d have learned a thing or two over the summer, set some goals for the new year, maybe met some new people over the summer and as close as you were with your friends over the summer getting back into the social fringe was awkward all over again. It was always an exciting time.

Nowadays, being out of school and a young professional finding his way in society what is left? I still feel the tenacity of fall and will forever use that as a benchmark for change. Today’s chilly front in the middle of summer bliss reminded me of such directional shift. This fall is going to be a very exciting time for me and has me even more amped to get to it. I’ll be sure to share along the way.

For my Okanagan friends, you have a LONG way to go before summer is over. I know it sounds ridiculous for me to post something like this, but you’re all quite familiar with my tales of ice and snow haha.
